The Angelus Mountain Station is brought to you by the NZ Mountain Safety Council (MSC) in collaboration with Envirolapse. The site is situated at 1805m elevation with three cameras; one facing south looking out over Angelus Hut and Rotomaninitua/Lake Angelus, one facing north looking towards Robert Ridge and Speargrass Creek and one facing south-east with Angelus Hut in view and Maniniaro/Angelus Peak in the background.
Additionally, an automatic weather station provides real time weather data. This Mountain Station was installed to support avalanche forecasting provided by MSC on the NZ Avalanche Advisory, and the data is publicly available to support quality trip planning and preparation for those exploring the stunning Nelson Lakes National Park.
